About Me

My photo
(THIS BLOG IS NOT AFFLIATED WITH NOR DOES IT REPRESENT VALUE VILLAGE) Welcome to the (Value) Village Art Gallery. I’m your host, Curator SadHoboClown, and I will be your guide throughout the tour. Here you will find, free of charge, some of the most fantastic and awe-inspiring paintings ever gazed upon by the eyes of mankind. Our intention here is not to make anyone feel bad for having possibly created what many would consider to be bad art: I myself am a would-be artist and I’ve done some truly terrible things with paint and canvas, for which my conscience still plagues me. However: I honestly believe that most of the paintings you will see here can be considered charming: in them you are able to see the stumbling, tottering baby-steps that various artists have taken in the process of learning how to do something they’ve perhaps never done before. The point is that most people can only get better at something if they start out not better at something, right? So even if I’m being a bit of a wise-ass at times, bear in mind that it’s all in fun. Bad Art is still Art! (DISCLAIMER: THIS SITE AND ALL ITS CONTENTS ARE FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY. DON'T HAVE A COW, MAN!!!)

Flower (Acrylic on Canvas)

Again with the black and purple! It’s everywhere.

This actually isn’t that bad. It’s uninteresting and yawn-inducing a but there’s talent here.

Artist: next time paint something more important, more worthy of your time paint and canvas.

Beach Scene (Acrylic on Canvas)

Cartoony, crayon coloring-book-y and very kid-like. Not very good at all. Sorry man…

Peacock Feathers and Hokey Slogan (Acrylic on Canvas)

I just hate this kind of stuff…

But if you think the above painting is bad, here’s what I spared you today, which is six of the following (different artist btw): I absolutely applaud the sentiments but I hate the execution…

Flowers and Bamboo maybe? (Acrylic on Canvas)

It’s good. Dull, but good. Technically proficient for sure. Someone would definitely like to own this I bet. Just not me.

Mexican Skull (Acrylic on Canvas)

Niche and for a very specific audience but there’s some legit talent here. Time was spent, effort was exerted. I have no complaints.

Mushroom? (Acrylic on Canvas)

This is right up there with the very worst paintings we’ve ever exhibited here. It is without a doubt in the Top Ten, and might even be in the Top Three.

Nothing else needs to be said.

Forest Lake Scene (Acrylic on Canvas)

This feels…weird. Candyland-ish. Or CandyOutlandish. The colors are off. I expect to see the White Witch rolling up with her midget and offering me some Turkish Delight at any moment.

Mountain Landscape (Oil on Canvas)

By any objective metric this is a really really good painting.

It’s a shame that it’s of such a boring and overdone subject.

I’m beginning to think we have more paintings of Alaskan mountains here than there are actual mountains in Alaska. Whew…

Flower (Acrylic on Canvas)

Too much blue, too much black, and not enough originality. I feel like squiggly signature person in the lower left could do better than this boring and badly-stemmed flower.

Garden Ghosts (Acrylic on Canvas)

Aside from it feeling to me like something one might find being painted on an Instagram reel (or being sold on Etsy) I gotta admit: I kinda like it! I especially like the little critters doing their thing. Good job, artistic-type personoid…

Mountain Scene (Acrylic on Canvas)

I’m back.

Actually I never left. I’ve been accumulating paintings to install for the past month: I just been lazy and haven’t gotten around to installing them. Now I have 40ish paintings to review all at once. Ugh.

(That last sentence was my review of this one.)

Just kidding. It’s boring and is violating my rule against blue, black and “things in silhouette” i.e three of the seven most overused etceteras in Amateur Art (the others being gray, pink, purple and “left-unpainted white canvas”) but it is reasonably good from a technical standpoint.

So there!
